I have been moonlighting as the Lead Animator on this project, its been incredibly fun and rewarding to stylize and direct the animation to be as I see fit. I was the first animator/rigger so it was my job to establish the workflow, in and out of engine for the team. Considering this was a budget game the scope and available hours were limited so it was more often than not about rapid prototyping and giving animations a first pass.
I thoroughly enjoyed the freedom given on this project, I could experiment with crazy dynamic movements for both combat and locomotion animations.
I was responsible for:
- Rigging and skinning all characters and animated props
- Animating the characters combat, locomotion and skateboard tricks; including mirroring the animations for different stances
- All animation state machine setup; including blend spaces, additive/override layers, parameter creation, interruption sources and transitions.
